FAQ's

We consider ourselves as good instructors who have passed the DVSA assessment to hold an instructors badge. Our backgrounds put us in a unique position having been examiners and highly skilled drivers. As examiners we saw good candidates and bad. It is not always a reflection on the instructor as test day can throw up some incredible anomalies. But, sometimes there is a pattern. So, we can tell you that we are better than others but won’t tell you that we are the best because we might not be. When people pass, they praise their instructor and recommend them to friends, but generally have no one to compare that instructor against. We have taken on numerous students who have switched instructors and been told that we are the best instructor they had. It’s great to hear but we keep our feet on the ground and our heads out of the clouds. We teach properly, not lazily. You will always progress on every single lesson, not stay doing the same thing over and over again.

We offer discounts on 40 hour packages (20 lessons) requiring payment in full at the time of booking. Because we only do 2 hour lessons, our prices actually reflect that with up to £11 per hour discount already applied. We work smart, not budget. By reducing travelling time by offering 2 hour lessons, we maximise your time and ours. We do not take cash as a payment method. Our preferred method is a bank transfer as it avoids service charges for you and us and allows us to set our prices competitively.

We would be very happy for you to promote our business too. Feel free to do so after you have paid for our services.

The DVSA suggest 45 hours of professional instruction and another 20 hours of private practice.  Until you are in the drivers seat it is impossible to tell. We can assure you that to pass the test you MUST have the requisite skills to do so. It takes time and commitment and should not be rushed. We will assess your driving, give you progress updates in writing at the end of each lesson a percentage mark so you know how well you are doing. As a benchmark, at least 20 hours of professional instruction, aim for 30, budget for 40

Yes we do. These lessons are very popular and are snapped up very quickly. We work on a fair system of first come first served. On occasion we will add a lesson at short notice on the app that can be booked. Driving lessons are in high demand so it is best to book as many lessons as you can when they are showing as available in our diary to avoid disappointment. We dont have a priority booking system. We believe in fairness for all

It might seem so, but we get all the admin done beforehand to get you moving on the road, not sitting there filling out forms and chatting. Wheels rolling is what you are paying for. We code check your licence before you can book your first lesson. We require a payment at the time of booking your first lesson so you don’t book a lesson and not bother paying or cancelling an hour beforehand. We want you to be committed to learning to drive. We have these systems in place because there are chancers out there, who have tried to get around us. You cant book until we know your licence is valid and you cant confirm your first booking until you have paid for it, that’s all. It’s not complicated, it’s efficient. If you are sitting in the drivers seat and not driving, it’s not efficient. We believe in value for money for you as well as us.

We generally have limited availability over the coming 8  days but you can start at any point as long as there is a space for your lesson. You can book lessons up to 4 weeks ahead.

No, but we guarantee that if you take your test when we determine you are ready, it is most likely that you will pass. Unfortunate mistakes happen on tests that cannot be legislated for, but, if your hazard awareness is excellent, you should be able to deal with anything that happens.

Absolutely ! but, only after we have assessed your driving and tidied up any bad habits you may have. Contact us to discuss.

The pass rate sits around 45% nationally. The main reason is lack of preparation ie , insufficient lessons. The 45% who do pass are not lucky, they have trained hard. Also take into account that people pass after a number of attempts and not necessarily first time. Passing first time is highly probable with the correct number of lessons. Ask yourself this – If 45% can pass, then why can’t the other 55%. Be part of the successful percentage by learning with us. Have a look at our blogs. We go into details.

Dual carriageways are one of the last lessons you undertake due to the level of awareness needed in all aspects of driving before adding fast moving traffic, multiple lanes and entry and exit methods. Test roads are used but you wont learn the 50 or so routes that you could go on. On your tests you will be on roads that are familiar to you. We will also take you on the M11 as part of your lessons to give you an awareness of how motorway driving differs from other road driving, but only when we believe you can deal with it.

Yes, we can — but let’s break it down honestly.

To offer a 1-hour lesson, we have to factor in extra travel, downtime between students, and shifting the diary around to make it work. That dramatically changes the economics for us. It’s not about pricing you out — it’s about keeping things fair and sustainable.

That’s why the cost for a single 1-hour lesson is £46, whether you’re learning in Auto or Manual. 2hr lessons are £38ph for auto and £35ph for manual but in 2 hour lessons so £76 and £70. Thats up to £11 per hour cheaper for a 2 hour lesson.

It’s also worth knowing: shorter lessons typically lead to 25% more sessions overall to reach test standard. That’s more travel for you, more cost in the long run, and less efficient learning.

Our 2-hour sessions are designed for maximum value. Think of it this way:
We operate like Ryanair – streamlined and efficient – but deliver like Emirates, with first-class attention to detail.
We’re smart budget with all the frills, minus the nonsense.

In a word – Yes.

You must be taking lessons with us though. We dont resell tests at inflated prices but we can help you find one.
